Computer Drama {need your help!}

Posted on July 16, 2010

So, the unthinkable has happened.  I have been dealing with a computer crisis for about a week now.  Before any of my past clients flip out, don’t worry about your images.  I have backed up and have all previous sessions safely stored.  However, what I do not have is access to any previous email correspondence or my Outlook calendar.  I have relied on the calendar for appointments and reminders.

I have had to do a system recovery on my computer, which is like wiping your computer back to the default settings.  Without all of the software that has been accumulated along the way.  It will take some time to sort it out.

The reason I am sharing this awful experience with my clients out there is because I need for anyone who has an appointment with me at any point in the future to contact me ASAP.  I do not have any email contacts and no way of checking correspondence.  If you are a bride, don’t worry.  I have those dates.

This is for family sessions, senior sessions, newborn sessions, children’s portrait sessions.  Basically, anyone out there that I have made an appointment with for the next couple of months.

Thanks!

And since blog posts are more interesting with an image, here is my future new best bud.  I am breaking up with PC.

My Big News!! {Southern Bliss Photography, LLC}

Posted on March 24, 2010

Okay, so I have been waiting a long time to finally announce my big news!  I have merged the wedding portion of my business with my good friend Amy Ross.  She and I have formed a new business, Southern Bliss Photography, LLC.  We will specialize in weddings and special event photography.  We have shot a few weddings together and are very aware of how important it is to capture the day perfectly for the bride and groom.  Working together for our clients will just ensure that we provide the highest level of service for our clients.  We have our portfolio on our WEBSITE.  But, the place where all the action will be is on our BLOG.  We also have FACEBOOK FAN PAGE.  We would love for you to become a fan and spread the word to your friends.

We will still continue with our separate portrait businesses for now so we will continue booking sessions separately for portraiture.

Featured {Lollipop Events & Design}

Posted on March 14, 2010

The girls at Lollipop Events & Design were in charge of the styling and production of the Jessica Claire workshop that I attended in January.  The location had to be changed TWICE so they had to work super hard to be sure the event was a success.  And it was!  The shoot was beautifully styled with the most amazing details I have ever seen.

If you are a bride looking for inspiration for your wedding plans, check them out.  They have really unique ideas.

I am so pleased they are featuring some of my work from the shoot on their blog!  Thanks, girls!!!

Session Outtakes

Posted on February 26, 2010

Here are a couple of photos of me from a recent session I had with Amy Ross.  We spent the afternoon taking photos of each other and she managed to snap a couple of unexpected ones.

We had a blast during this session and the decent photos will soon be appearing on another website/blog.

Stay tuned….I have some very exciting news coming soon!

About the photos… I am clearly moving a chair for us to use. What you can’t see is that I am wearing heels and stomping through a field!  Why am I smiling?  I have no clue.  Maybe it’s because I am pretty proud that I got that chair up over my head!  In the second image, it looks like Amy is falling down.  She was actually secretly snapping a picture of me while I was taking her picture!  Sneaky. I kinda dig it, though!

Workshop {part two} – Jessica Claire

Posted on January 27, 2010

So here is the second part of my workshop post.  I think these are my very favorites!  Again, I had a ton of fun and learned a lot.  Jessica is really down to earth and if you are a photographer looking for inspiration, you should check out her blog.  She has a definitive style and is really down to earth and willing to share her experience.

These workshop posts are also part of my new determination to make my blog more personal and show more of what I am about as a photographer and a person (of the non-photographer kind).  So, sprinkled in between photo shoot blog posts, you may have to endure some personal stuff such as images of my kids and life in general.

On to the workshop goodies. . .

Workshop {part one} – Jessica Claire

Posted on January 19, 2010

I was lucky enough to spend a few days in California attending a workshop by Jessica Claire.  She was named one of the top 10 wedding photographers in the world in 2008 by American Photo Magazine.  She is a phenomenal photographer and very smart business woman.  She shared some of her tips and advice on branding a business and how she was able to build her business mostly by word of mouth.  The best kind of advertising, in my opinion!

There were a total of 20 photographers in the group and she had planned an outdoor mock wedding for us in the afternoon.  Unfortunately, it rained all morning and she had to change the location TWICE!  So our shoot location ended up being backup “Plan C”!  I was okay with this since the location was more realistic for a “real” wedding and had some of the obstacles you might face at an actual venue, such as houses, fences, buildings, etc . . .  And we got lucky and the gorgeous California sun finally showed up and gave us some beautiful light!

I learned so much and made lots of new friends!  Always nice!  Since I have so many images I would like to share, I decided to break this up into two blog posts.  So I will posting part 2 of the workshop in the coming days.

This spectacular day would not have been possible without the the work of the team of people involved:
