Natasha {model session}

Posted on March 4, 2010

I recently traveled to Japan International Karate Do Academy in Trussville, AL for a sports session.  While there, the owner’s daughter, Natasha, stopped by and we had a great time doing some modeling shots.  Natasha is an aspiring model and has the most AMAZING skin I have ever seen.  It was so much fun to work with her.  She is naturally photogenic and is so comfortable in front of the camera!  It’s pretty rare for me to find a subject that loves being photographed.

Session Outtakes

Posted on February 26, 2010

Here are a couple of photos of me from a recent session I had with Amy Ross.  We spent the afternoon taking photos of each other and she managed to snap a couple of unexpected ones.

We had a blast during this session and the decent photos will soon be appearing on another website/blog.

Stay tuned….I have some very exciting news coming soon!

About the photos… I am clearly moving a chair for us to use. What you can’t see is that I am wearing heels and stomping through a field!  Why am I smiling?  I have no clue.  Maybe it’s because I am pretty proud that I got that chair up over my head!  In the second image, it looks like Amy is falling down.  She was actually secretly snapping a picture of me while I was taking her picture!  Sneaky. I kinda dig it, though!

Sweet Babies!

Posted on February 11, 2010

I had a couple of baby sessions recently.  One baby was 2 1/2 weeks old and the other was 6 weeks.  Both were adorable!

Little Brayden was 2 1/2 weeks and this was a birthday gift for the new mom, Amy(way to go dad!).  Anytime you make the decision to get a newborn baby naked, you are just asking for trouble.  Amy brought her mother Becky along to help.  Becky was the unfortunate target of a little surprise sprinkling action from Brayden.  Never a dull moment.  Sorry Becky!

And then there was Laiken.  He was 6 weeks old and could not have cared less if he was naked.  I have never seen a tiny baby so content just laying around naked.  He just snuggled up and napped most of the time!

And here is a last one of Laiken that makes me smile.  I love the angle of this shot.  Makes you just want to scoop that little sweetie pie up and cuddle, huh?harraid-31

Workshop {part two} – Jessica Claire

Posted on January 27, 2010

So here is the second part of my workshop post.  I think these are my very favorites!  Again, I had a ton of fun and learned a lot.  Jessica is really down to earth and if you are a photographer looking for inspiration, you should check out her blog.  She has a definitive style and is really down to earth and willing to share her experience.

These workshop posts are also part of my new determination to make my blog more personal and show more of what I am about as a photographer and a person (of the non-photographer kind).  So, sprinkled in between photo shoot blog posts, you may have to endure some personal stuff such as images of my kids and life in general.

On to the workshop goodies. . .

Kenzie {studio session}

Posted on January 23, 2010

Kenzie is a good friend of my daughter Gracie and I have been wanting to have a session with her.  She has the most adorable smile and a head full of GORGEOUS hair!    We had so much fun getting these shots but Ithink she was exhausted!

Hey, being a fashion model is a tough job, right?

Workshop {part one} – Jessica Claire

Posted on January 19, 2010

I was lucky enough to spend a few days in California attending a workshop by Jessica Claire.  She was named one of the top 10 wedding photographers in the world in 2008 by American Photo Magazine.  She is a phenomenal photographer and very smart business woman.  She shared some of her tips and advice on branding a business and how she was able to build her business mostly by word of mouth.  The best kind of advertising, in my opinion!

There were a total of 20 photographers in the group and she had planned an outdoor mock wedding for us in the afternoon.  Unfortunately, it rained all morning and she had to change the location TWICE!  So our shoot location ended up being backup “Plan C”!  I was okay with this since the location was more realistic for a “real” wedding and had some of the obstacles you might face at an actual venue, such as houses, fences, buildings, etc . . .  And we got lucky and the gorgeous California sun finally showed up and gave us some beautiful light!

I learned so much and made lots of new friends!  Always nice!  Since I have so many images I would like to share, I decided to break this up into two blog posts.  So I will posting part 2 of the workshop in the coming days.

This spectacular day would not have been possible without the the work of the team of people involved:

Samantha & Tyler {i will}

Posted on January 11, 2010

Had a really fun engagement session with Samantha and Tyler.  They were very sweet and let me just drag them all over the place for some fun shots.  Tyler was a little uncomfortable being photographed to begin with (as most guys are!), but we finally got him to loosen up.  Thank you Samantha and Tyler and I can’t wait for the wedding!!

2010 -The Family

Posted on January 6, 2010

I must apologize right off the bat for not blogging in FOREVER!  I was pretty busy during the Christmas season and then totally took some time off during the end of month to spend some much needed time with my family.

The holiday season reminded me that being a good mom should come before photography, always!  I have a very full life and feel fortunate to be able to wake up every day excited about my job!  I am very aware that it is a privilege not everyone enjoys.

I have big plans for 2010.  I am planning to make some changes in my business that I am very excited about!  I won’t be sharing them just yet, but I am confident that these changes will help my business grow and better serve you, my client!

So, for now, here are a few pics from my December 2009 family session.  The reason(s) for my little vacation!

Of course, I have to thank my awesome photographer friend Amy Ross for helping take our family photos that day.  That is also her couch.  Pretty cool, huh?

The whole gang!
