Carmen

Posted on August 3, 2010

One of the most rewarding things about being a photographer is watching your clients grow right in front of your camera.  Being a children’s portrait photographer, if you are lucky, a client chooses you to document the growth and development of their child/children. I am always delighted to see how much each child has grown since our last session.

I have photographed Carmen as a little baby and got another chance for her one year session. Every parent knows each and every child is different and has their own little personality.  Carmen is a bit shy and seemed to be staring at me with quite a solemn, almost suspicious gaze at times.  Then, just right out of the blue, she gives me these sweet, adorable little smiles.

Of course, we have to thank parents and grand-parents.  They really did all the work to get the grins!  Thanks, guys!!!

Computer Drama {need your help!}

Posted on July 16, 2010

So, the unthinkable has happened.  I have been dealing with a computer crisis for about a week now.  Before any of my past clients flip out, don’t worry about your images.  I have backed up and have all previous sessions safely stored.  However, what I do not have is access to any previous email correspondence or my Outlook calendar.  I have relied on the calendar for appointments and reminders.

I have had to do a system recovery on my computer, which is like wiping your computer back to the default settings.  Without all of the software that has been accumulated along the way.  It will take some time to sort it out.

The reason I am sharing this awful experience with my clients out there is because I need for anyone who has an appointment with me at any point in the future to contact me ASAP.  I do not have any email contacts and no way of checking correspondence.  If you are a bride, don’t worry.  I have those dates.

This is for family sessions, senior sessions, newborn sessions, children’s portrait sessions.  Basically, anyone out there that I have made an appointment with for the next couple of months.

Thanks!

And since blog posts are more interesting with an image, here is my future new best bud.  I am breaking up with PC.

Preslei & Garrett {because today is her birthday}

Posted on July 7, 2010

More sessions from Green Mountain Park!  I have to say these children were really something, in a good way!  Even though Mom Kim assured me they don’t have their picture made every week, I was very suspicious.  I lovingly referred to them as the Stepford children only because I have never seen kids of this age not only follow every single request for a picture, but they just snapped right into poses as soon as I told them where to stand or sit.  It was sooooo awesome!

I am so used to having to cajole and chase and distract that it was super nice for me to just stand still, point my camera in their general direction and….bam.  Great photos every time!

Kim, are you sure you didn’t medicate these kids?  I am kidding, of course.  They were adorable, polite and an absolute joy to photograph.  Thank you so much, Kim!

Oh!  And guess what?  Today is Preslei’s 9th birthday!  Happy birthday, Preslei!  Hope you have a GREAT day!!!!

Bella {Huntsville, AL Children’s Photography}

Posted on July 5, 2010

Bella is 9 months old and was a dream to photograph! She didn’t mind the outfit changes and seemed quite content to give us lots of sweet little grins no matter where we perched her.

This is probably one of my favorite ages to photograph a baby.  They can sit up fine, are easily amused, and can’t run away!  ;)

We were running behind on sessions that day but Mom and Dad (Hillary and Jamie) were super nice and patient.  Thanks bunches, guys!

The location is Green Mtn Park in Huntsville.

Chambers and Family {Huntsville, AL Photographer}

Posted on June 24, 2010

I recently traveled to Green Mountain Park in Huntsville for several Spring Special sessions.  My cousin, Katrina Chambers, was really the reason for most of the sessions that day.  She contacted several of her friends and family and basically set up most of the sessions for me.  Not only that, but she stayed all day to help me with the sessions!

Her niece, Jessica, also tagged along with her for the day and she also stayed and helped schlep props and hold stuff.  It was pretty hot and I really appreciated them for staying to help out!  Thank you Katrina and Jessica for being such troopers and helping out all day!

Theses are just a couple of shots of Katrina’s kids and nieces.  I will post more sessions from that day soon!

First up, Katrina’s adorable kids, Cole and Madelyn. . .

And although Jessica, Katrina’s niece, didn’t plan to have her picture taken that day, I snapped a few of her while waiting on the last session.  Her hair had been in a ponytail all day and she was hot and sweaty like the rest of us, but look at this gorgeous girl!

Austin & Lauren {Boaz, AL Children’s Photographer}

Austin and Lauren’s session was one of  several that I did at Noccalula Falls in Gadsden, AL.  They were adorable and it was so easy to get lots of great shots!  Austin had a quiet smile and seemed pretty at ease in front of the camera.  This is almost unheard of in boys around this age!  I was pretty grateful for the cooperation.  Little Miss Lauren was full of giggles and they both had some gorgeous eyes!!!

Molly

Posted on June 7, 2010

I have photographed Molly before and she was a little shy the first time.  Not this time around!  I was pleasantly surprised to find little Miss Molly so excited and animated during our photo session.  Our session was at Noccalula Falls in Gadsden and she told me all about the deer that roams around the park.  We had a great session!  I love it when kids are at that age when they get excited about having their picture taken and can’t wait to pose for you!

We tried out a few props I had.  I purchased the tutu  from Oh Sew Precious.  They had a booth at our local fall festival last year and have some of cutest stuff!

Mason

Posted on June 2, 2010

Okay, so sometimes I have what I think are little photography crushes.  There are times when a subject comes along that I just seem to connect with immediately.  Mason was the last session in a long, hot day full of outdoor sessions.  I will admit I was getting pretty tired by the end of the day (hey, I am an old woman) but was fully prepared to meet this new little guy and get some great shots for mom.  I was not prepared for what a little funny charmer he turned out to be!

For our first shots, I found a small little stream with water cascading just a bit over some rocks.  Mason says, “Is this a waterfall?”.  I replied, “Well, it is waterfall-ish.”  His response, “I didn’t bring my fishing pole.”  He was so serious.  It just cracked me up and set the tone for the rest of the shoot.  He was so funny and curious and I left the day feeling so invigorated instead of exhausted!  Amber, I totally have a crush on your little Mason!
